Resham Embroidery in Delhi — Silk Thread Work for Lehengas, Suits & Blouses
Resham is embroidery in silk or rayon thread — soft, colourful and much lighter than metal work. It gives florals and paisleys a gentle sheen, and it is the craft we reach for when an outfit needs colour without weight.

The Heritage of Resham Embroidery
Silk thread embroidery has been worked across India for centuries, from Kashmir's fine needlework to Punjab's phulkari and Gujarat's mirror-and-thread traditions. In couture, 'resham' usually refers to embroidery in silk or rayon floss, used alone or combined with zari, sequins and beads. Because it is light and flexible, resham became the natural choice for daytime and festive wear, and for adding colour to bridal outfits worked mainly in gold.
The Technique Behind Resham Embroidery
The design is traced onto fabric stretched on a frame. The artisan fills motifs with satin, long-and-short and stem stitches, often with an aari hook for fine chain-stitch outlines. Shading is built by blending several thread colours, which gives resham florals their painterly depth.

Resham Embroidery at Le Wraps — Our Expertise
Resham work at Le Wraps is designed by Nidhi Sachdev and embroidered by our in-house karigars at Friends Colony East. Because the work happens on the premises, colours can be checked against your fabric and adjusted between fittings, and resham can be combined with zardozi, aari or mirror work on the same piece.
Resham Embroidery Pricing
Pricing depends on the area covered, the density of the work and whether it is combined with metal embroidery. We quote after discussing your design.
Frequently Asked Questions — Resham Embroidery
What is the difference between resham and zari work?
Resham uses silk or rayon thread and is soft and colourful. Zari and zardozi use metallic threads and are heavier, with a gold or silver shine.
Is resham embroidery good for summer weddings?
Yes. Resham is much lighter than metal embroidery, which makes it comfortable for daytime and summer functions.
Can resham be combined with zardozi?
Yes. Many bridal pieces use zardozi for structure and resham for colour and shading.
How do I care for resham embroidery?
Dry clean only, store folded in a muslin cloth, and keep away from damp to protect the colours and sheen.
