Craft notes —Four colour samples sent home before fabric was cut. Three blouse-fit muslins before the final cut. Final fitting eleven days before the wedding — no rush, no last-minute karigar panic.

Craft notes —Maroon raw silk with dabka and gota patti border, hand-finished hem. Blouse fully lined with cotton mulmul because she remembered I have sensitive skin.

“I came to Le Wraps after two disappointing experiences at well-known Delhi designers — one promised the moon and delivered a borrowed sample, the other handed me a junior designer at every meeting. Nidhi listened to what had gone wrong, redrew my idea from scratch, and gave me a lehenga that actually looked like me, not their lookbook.”

Craft notes —Heavy Punjabi-style ghagra with kalire-friendly choli, double-layer can-can replaced with a hand-stitched horse-hair hem so it falls without sticking out. Heirloom-grade real silver tilla work along the dupatta border.

“I wanted something restrained — a saree, not a lehenga, no logo, no flashbulb embroidery. Nidhi steered me to a ghicha tussar in chartreuse with thread-on-thread aari, and a structured blouse I have already worn twice since the wedding.”

Craft notes —Pre-pleated, pre-stitched fall on the saree. Blouse with a hidden side zip and concealed bra-strap loops. Worn under twenty minutes on the morning of, no draping help needed.

“Living in London I expected a long, anxious wait for fabric photos and approvals. Instead Nidhi sent a calendar of milestones, shot every embroidery panel in daylight, and shipped the final piece DHL-insured to me four weeks before the wedding so I could try it in my own mirror. Nothing arrived needing a fix.”

Craft notes —Ivory and powder-blue raw silk, hand French knots, suchak set with semi-precious emeralds. Custom-cut for a 5'10" frame with shoulder pads removed at my request.

“My mother wore a Banarasi lehenga in 1992 and I wanted that exact weight, that exact gold. Nidhi sourced the kadhwa weave directly from a master weaver in Varanasi, then layered hand kundan and pure gold karam on top. It looks like a museum piece. It also fits like a t-shirt.”

Craft notes —Original Banarasi kadhwa silk, real gold karam, kundan-set borders, pure silver gota dupatta. Lined entirely in handloom cotton. Total weight 8.6 kg — distributed so the waist carries none of it.

“Every designer I had visited gave me the same pity-discount: 'we can make you something flowy that hides it'. Nidhi took the opposite approach — she structured the bodice, used a tighter ghagra waist with a softer flare from the hip, and made me look like the bride I had always pictured. No upcharge for my size, no apology in the fitting.”

Craft notes —Built-in waist cincher with bone, not elastic. Hand-finished bias seams so nothing pulls. Blouse cup-sized individually, not standard.

“An engagement, not a wedding — I did not want to overspend. Nidhi did not push. She suggested an organza saree with a structured blouse, kept the embroidery to the pallu, and finished it in ten weeks. It cost less than what two other designers had quoted for far less work.”

Craft notes —Hand-rolled saree edge. Pearl-and-zardozi pallu, intentionally light. Blouse with shaped princess seams.
