An alteration is a fitting problem, not a stitching job
Most alteration shops take in a seam and hand the garment back. A designer looks at why the garment doesn't sit right — seam allowance left inside, where the embroidery crosses the seam, how the lining is constructed, whether the shoulder line can move at all. At Le Wraps, every alteration is assessed on your body first, quoted in writing, and fitted before it leaves. We work on pieces bought anywhere: other designers, retail, or a mother's trousseau that needs to fit a daughter.

What can actually be altered
Not every fit problem is an alteration problem. This is the honest version of what a seam can absorb and what it can't.

The alteration process
Step 1
Send photos before you travel
WhatsApp photos of the garment on you, plus the inside seams. We tell you whether it's alterable before you make the trip.
Step 2
Appointment assessment
The garment is examined on your body at the atelier. Seam allowance, lining, embroidery placement and fabric behaviour decide what's possible.
Step 3
Written quote and timeline
You get a fixed price and a date before any stitch is opened. Nothing starts without your approval.
Step 4
Alteration and fitting
Simple alterations: one fitting. Structural or embroidered work: two. Bridal alterations are scheduled to finish at least a week before the function.

Women's alteration services
Blouse alterations & re-cutting
Underarm gape, tight armhole, loose cup, back-hook shift, neckline re-shaping. Where the original cut allows it we alter; where it doesn't, we say so and re-draft instead of forcing a bad fit.
Lehenga alterations
Waist take-in or let-out, kali re-panelling, ghera length, cancan replacement, waistband re-construction and hook repositioning after weight change.
Saree blouse & fall-pico finishing
Fall stitching, pico edging, blouse lining replacement and pallu re-finishing on new or heirloom sarees.
Suit, kurta & Anarkali alterations
Side-seam adjustment, sleeve re-set, hem and length, slit re-positioning, lining replacement on Chanderi, silk and cotton.
Gown & Indo-western alterations
Bust dart re-placement, zip replacement, hem and train shortening, strap and boning adjustment on structured gowns.
Bridal alterations & embroidery restoration
Pre-wedding fit corrections, zardozi and gota re-couching, sequin and stone replacement, and lining renewal on heirloom pieces from a mother's or grandmother's trousseau.

Do you alter garments bought elsewhere?
Yes, selectively. We take alterations on pieces bought from other designers, retail stores and family heirlooms, subject to an assessment. If the garment cannot be altered to a standard we're willing to sign off on, we say so rather than take the work.
How long does an alteration take?
Simple length and seam work: 3–7 days. Blouse re-cutting: 7–10 days. Lehenga waist and kali re-panelling: 10–14 days. Embroidery restoration: 2–4 weeks depending on the hand work involved.
How much do alterations cost?
Alterations are quoted after the garment is assessed, because the price depends on seam allowance, lining and whether embroidery has to be lifted and re-couched. You receive a fixed written quote before any work begins.
Can a heavily embroidered lehenga be taken in?
Usually yes, but it is hand work — the embroidery over the seam is lifted, the seam is moved, and the work is re-couched so the pattern still reads continuously. This is why embroidered alterations cost and take more than plain ones.
Do you do urgent or same-day alterations?
No. Every alteration goes through assessment and at least one fitting. For weddings, bring the garment in at least three weeks before the function.
